BRUNEI PRINCE LOOKS AT SEA GAMES SITES
Bandar Seri Begawan His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri
Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council and Chairman of
the 20th SEA Games Organising Committee this afternoon had a closer look at several
facilities to be used during the upcoming SEA Games.
HRH Prince Haji Sufri first visited the Fire Station Multipurpose Hall
at the Old Airport in Berakas. With him was Pengiran Muda Abdul Hakeem. The hall which can
accommodate five hundred spectators will be used for the Taekwando Tournament.
He then proceeded to the Muhibbah Hall located nearby. Both courts in
the hall will be used for the Sepaktakraw Competition. The hall which is currently
undergoing renovation could seat eight hundred people.
The Multi Purpose Hall of University Brunei Darussalam will also be a
focus point of the SEA Games. Here the prince scrutinised the progress made used for the
basketball tournament. Scheduled to be completed in June, the hall can accommodate eight
hundred sports enthusiasts.
The Southeast Asian Games Federation has held a Medical Committee
Meeting for the forthcoming SEA Games in August.
The meeting at the National Stadium in Berakas, among other matters,
discussed the provision of medical services, temporary registration of contingent doctors
as well as health and environmental arrangements. Also discussed were doping control
procedures and gender verification. The meeting was chaired by Doctor Varin Tansuphasiri
from Thailand. Ten representatives from all SEA Games participating countries attend the
meeting.
